Email Setup - Outlook Express

 

Step 1: To setup your ideaone.net email for the first time, first you will need to select Start, Settings, Control Panel.



Step 2: From the Control Panel, Double Click the Mail icon. If you do not have a Mail icon, select "Switch to Classic View" from the menu on the left.



Step 3: From the Mail Setup - Outlook window select Email Accounts...



Step 4: From the E-mail Accounts window select "Add a new e-mail account", then click Next at the bottom.



Step 5: From the E-mail Accounts window, select POP3, then click Next at the bottom.



Step 6: From the Internet E-mail Settings(POP3) window edit the User Information to reflect your name and email address. The server information is as follows: Incoming mail server (POP3) is mail.ideaone.net, Outgoing mail server (SMTP) is smtp.ideaone.net. Finally enter the Logon Information as your user name(userid) and password. The default password for ideaone.net email accounts is changeme. To request your password changed, go to www.ideaone.com/password.htm.



Step 7: Outlook 2003 has the ability to test your email account before you try to download email. From the Internet Email settings window (see Step 6) click on "Test Account Settings." This will test what you have entered in Step 6 against the server. You should see similar results as the image below. Once the test is complete, click Close.



Step 8: After you have successfully tested your account, click Next at the bottom of the screen. You have finished the wizard and are now ready to use Outlook 2003. Just click Finish at the bottom of the window. Now open Outlook from your desktop.
