How is HelloWorld like TV and what is streaming video?
Your broadband Internet connection from IdeaOne provides the kind of speed that makes it possible to record and send videos over the Web. It's like having your own TV studio right in your computer! It's as easy to master and simple to use as sending ordinary email.

Do I need to know a lot about computers to record and send video?
Not at all! Our streaming video service, HelloWorld, is designed to be fun and easy to use. You'll log onto a web site, then click a few keys (the instructions are right there online). Then follow the prompts.

Do I need a special kind of computer and software?
No! HelloWorld operates on most modern Windows computers using Windows 2000, XP or Vista. We recommend broadband service like IdeaOne DSL. Dial-up internet does not have sufficient bandwidth to utilize HelloWorld. Contact IdeaOne at 356-6000 for how to upgrade your dial-up account to high speed (or our wireless product).

You don't even need to install a software program on your home computer. When you log on to your HelloWorld account, you will use state-of-the-art video software right over the Internet.

What kind of video camera is required?
All you need is a little webcam - a tennis-ball-size "eyeball" that usually sits on top of your monitor or stands on your desk. Webcams are available just about everywhere that computers are sold. They range in price from $40 to $120 or so.

Does it cost a lot to send a video?
It's all part of your package. You'll pay a flat fee of $10, $20 or $40 a month (depending on how long each Vmail message can be and how much you want to store in your personal media vault online). After that, you can send as many as you want up to a generous maximum number of hours each month. There is no additional charge per message or per broadcast.

What if I need more help?
HelloWorld has very good online support, from a knowledge base with answers to common questions, to live chat with technical advisors. You can reach them online 24 hours a day. They'll ask you to describe your problem, then walk you through to the solution. There is no charge for this service, which is just part of your monthly service plan. You can click on the "Customer Support Center" at the bottom of the HelloWorld homepage to access more answers to common questions.

What can I do with Internet video beyond sending Vmails (video emails)?
You can take part in live video chats with up to three other people at the same time - all able to see, hear and talk to one another. It's great for families that want to keep in touch! If you already use Instant Messaging, imagine what video can add!

You can also broadcast live programs over the web - just like having your own TV station. Viewers can go to a URL (web address) you provide and watch you on their computers. You can show photos and graphic slides during your program and ask questions, which viewers answer by clicking choices on their screens. They can also respond and ask questions by typing them in on their own keyboards.

Your broadcast can be recorded at the same time and added to your personal My World page so that viewers can watch it whenever they want. You can even upload your own home videos to your personal HelloWorld site, where friends and family can share them. (You are also able to upload and share photographs and audio recordings on your My World page.)

How do I pay for HelloWorld - is it part of my IdeaOne monthly bill?
Your membership in HelloWorld is separate from your monthly billing from IdeaOne. There is no contract, no start-up fee and you can cancel at any time (no cancellation fee). You must have a valid credit card to enroll in HelloWorld. Each month your monthly payment will be charged to your credit card. MasterCard, VISA and Discover are accepted.
